Double Page Spreads - Add Photos

1. FIND YOUR JPGS
  • Create a JPGS USED folder in your new Page Folder
  • Hold down the SHIFT key to Drag COPIES of the appropriate JPGs into the folder
(Do NOT move the originals from the PHOTOBANK)
Photo goes here
2. CROP YOUR PHOTOS
  • Check the SIZE of your desired photo frame in INDESIGN (ie 23x40 pica)
  • In PHOTOSHOP set the CROPPING TOOL to that same size +.1 (ie. 23.1 x 43.1 pica) and set the resolution to 300 DPI
  • Drag the cropping tool around the desired portion of the image and hit ENTER to crop
    • WARNING - if the image was ENLARGED you have a problem
The original did NOT have enough pixels to provide you with the intended file size, and Photoshop "invented" it's own pixels to try to keep you happy. DON'T USE THIS - it's just a bigger, blurrier version of the original photo.
  • Save the cropped image as a TIF using appropriate name (ie "032_Two guys IMG_1024.TIF" - page_description_jpgname.TIF)

3. PLACE YOUR PHOTOS
  • In INDESIGN - Select a frame, and use FILE | PLACE
  • Locate the appropriate TIF and double click it
  • You SHOULD be done!
